Market Overview
Andorra has no national rail network. The small landlocked microstate between France and Spain relies entirely on road transport. The nearest rail connections are at L'Hospitalet-près-l'Andorre in France (served by SNCF) and at Lleida in Spain (served by Renfe). Bus services connect Andorra's capital Andorra la Vella to these rail stations. A light rail or tramway connecting Andorra to the Spanish rail network has been discussed in long-term transport planning documents, primarily to serve the large volume of cross-border shoppers and ski tourists. Given Andorra's challenging mountain terrain and small population, the economic case for rail infrastructure is limited. Any future rail connection would most likely be a cross-border project developed jointly with Spain or France.
