Market Overview

Colombia's flagship rail project is the Bogotá Metro Primera Línea, a fully elevated automated metro line under construction in the capital. The project, funded by the Bogotá district government and national resources, represents the country's largest ever urban infrastructure investment. The second metro line is in planning. Medellín operates a mature metro, monorail, and cable car network that has become a global model for integrated urban mobility. Colombia's national freight rail network, largely dormant for decades, is being revived under private concessions. The Barranquilla tram project has been studied. Colombia's rail sector is attracting interest from Chinese, Spanish, and Korean rolling stock and infrastructure companies.
