Market Overview
Spain operates the world's second-longest high-speed rail network after China, with Renfe's AVE services connecting Madrid to Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, and other major cities. Adif, the rail infrastructure manager, continues to extend the high-speed network to regions not yet served. Urban metro systems in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Bilbao are expanding. Spain is also investing in the Mediterranean Rail Corridor to improve freight connectivity with France and the rest of Europe. The rail sector is a significant employer and industrial base, with CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) a globally active rolling stock manufacturer. EU funding supports ongoing rail modernisation across the Iberian Peninsula.
