Siemens Mobility has confirmed the appointment of Aglaja Schneider as Joint Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Rolling Stock and Customer Services for its UK and Ireland business, with the role taking effect from 1 January 2026. She succeeds Sambit Banerjee, who has chosen to retire following a 30-year career with Siemens. Aglaja Schneider will join the company’s senior leadership team in the UK alongside Rob Morris, Joint UK&I Chief Executive Officer, and Marko Feulner, Chief Financial Officer and Chair of the Board UK&I, as they continue to drive Siemens Mobility’s strategy to reshape rail transport across the country. The leadership change comes during a period of sustained expansion for Siemens Mobility in the UK. Recent investments include the opening of a £6 million Multi-Functional Centre at the Kings Heath Depot in Northampton, alongside longer-term commitments to manufacturing and technology development. These include up to £240 million being invested in the Rail Village in Goole, Yorkshire, where future battery bi-mode trains for the UK market are set to be built, and a further £100 million earmarked for Chippenham, Wiltshire, where a new Rail Technology Centre is due to open later this year.
