The two year contract has an estimated value of 1.5 billion leks ($18.5 million/5.75 million euro), Albanian Railways said in a tender announcement filed with the country's e-procurement portal.
The extension will link the railway's end station at Tirana’s Public Transport Terminal in the city's eastern part to a new central station within walking distance of the city centre, including two intermediate stops.
The main project, which includes restoration of the Tirana-Durres railway line as well as the line connecting the capital to Tirana airport, is 87% completed, and operations are set to launch at the beginning of 2027, Albania Railways director Ergys Verdho told local media in September.

The project, estimated at around 92.1 million euro, is co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with a 36.9 million euro loan, and the European Union with a grant of up to 35.5 million euro.
Albania is currently in the process of reviving key parts of its long-neglected railway network. Another key section, a 34-kilometre railway connecting Durres to the central town of Rrogozhine, part of European transport Corridor VIII, is planned to open in 2028, the infrastructure ministry said in October.
