CRRC has announced the beginning of a new stage of large-scale production of its FXN5C locomotive, with the 100th unit having recently rolled off the production line. Independently developed by CRRC Qishuyan; the FXN5C locomotive aims to integrate intelligent connectivity technology with improved energy efficiency and environmental performance. The 100th FXN5C locomotive recently rolled off the production line © CRRC The locomotive utilises a standardised, platform-based modular design, and has been designed in an effort to increase single-locomotive hauling capacity and operational efficiency whilst both reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Development of the locomotive has aided in the building and further improvement of the technical platform used for China’s own 4,400-horsepower-class mainline diesel locomotives.
