ERFA proposes European freight survival plan

Infrastructure works are causing major disruption and increased costs for European rail freight operators.

THE European Rail Freight Association (ERFA) has proposed a four-point action plan for freight train operators facing severe infrastructure capacity restrictions which are threatening their survival. These are due to a growing combination of last-minute changes to line closures for maintenance and renewal work, lack or low quality of alternative routes, simultaneous works and poor cross-border coordination between national infrastructure managers.
