Financial cuts for Melbourne commuter project

THE Victorian state government has announced it will make savings of $A 2bn ($US 1.43bn) on the first phase of Melbourne’s controversial Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) project, cutting what premier, Ben Carroll, says are $A 1bn of “unnecessary additions to the project’s scope.”
