Engineers will finalize corridor protection planning approval to prepare for construction. Don’t miss…Talgo 230 high-speed trains connect Copenhagen and Hamburg “Currently, our top priority remains the Sydney to Newcastle line because of its high housing demand and employment prospects,” said officials. The line stretches 194 kilometers and features 115 kilometers of tunnels. Trains are to run at speeds of 320 kilometers per hour between Central Coast and Newcastle, but only 200 kilometers per hour within the narrower tunnels in Sydney. New stations are planned to open in Broadmeadow, Lake Macquarie, and Central Coast in 2037, with Central Sydney to open in 2039. The project aims to reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and improve inter-capital centre connections. High Speed Rail to Promote Regional Growth And Sustainability Infrastructure Australia has also called for continued efforts to deliver the entire East Coast rail network. The project will connect Brisbane to Sydney, Canberra to Sydney, and Melbourne to Sydney. The construction of the project encompasses more than 1,800 kilometers of high-speed tracks. Industry leaders responded positively to the news. The Public Transport Association of Australia & New Zealand (PTAANZ) commended the decision. It termed “transformative” a decision that “enables a vision for a sustainable mobility future. ’“Infrastructure Australia’s assessment found that benefits for projects unlocking land for 150,000 residences accounted for 58%”- Lauren Streifer PTAANZ’s CEO. “What we need to realize is there are successful international examples like Japan that demonstrate how fast rail can deliver affordable housing,” she added. She believes there are ways to achieve similar outcomes in Australia’s eastern corridor. With the approval obtained from Infrastructure Australia, approval to begin construction rests with the federal government. With approval attained, it would set a new standard for Australians traveling between cities or living or working in regional areas.
