Hyundai Rotem will sign a railway vehicle export contract with the Vietnamese government on the occasion of a summit between President Lee Jae Myung and the Secretary-General and President of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The order is worth 110 million dollars (about 162 billion won).

President Lee said in a joint press release after a meeting with Secretary Torum at Hanoi's presidential palace on the 22nd, "Korea's railway vehicle export contract for Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City urban railway will be signed on the 23rd," adding, "We hope this contract will contribute to Vietnam's railway infrastructure improvement." With the export of urban rail vehicles, attention is also being paid to the possibility of winning orders for the North-South high-speed railway project in Vietnam, where the government and private companies have been competing together. The North-South high-speed rail project promoted by the Vietnamese government is a project to build a high-speed rail line that links a total of 1541 kilometers from Ngok Hoy Station in Hanoi to Tu Thiem Station in Ho Chi Minh City. The project cost is a total of 1,713 trillion won (about 96 trillion won), and it is planned to be completed by 2035.

President Lee expressed his expectation for winning an order for the North-South high-speed rail project, saying, "We expect cooperation in the transportation and logistics infrastructure project."
