Oman-UAE railway hits 40% completion milestone
Construction of the cross-border Oman-UAE railway project reached around 40% completion, marking steady progress on one of the region’s most significant infrastructure links. The project, led by Hafeet Rail, will connect Abu Dhabi with Sohar Port in Oman, forming a key part of the wider GCC rail network.
Spanning roughly 300km, the railway is designed to support both passenger and freight services, with trains travelling at speeds of up to 200km/h. Once operational, it is expected to significantly reduce travel times and enhance logistics efficiency, strengthening trade and connectivity between the two countries.
Beyond transport, the project is positioned as a major economic enabler, helping to reduce supply chain costs and boost cross-border trade flows. As construction advances, the railway is set to play a central role in the region’s long-term vision for integrated, sustainable mobility and economic collaboration.
