KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has partnered with China's Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) to strengthen strategic cooperation in enhancing operational capabilities, system reliability, technical expertise sharing and talent development, particularly in monorail operations.
The agreement, signed on July 9 at Menara Prasarana, provides a framework for collaboration on rail system reliability, asset management, operational digitalisation, data analytics, predictive maintenance, and operational and safety standards, as well as workforce competency development through joint training, technical visits and knowledge exchange.
Prasarana president and group chief executive officer Amir Hamdan said the collaboration would give the company greater access to global best practices in rail system reliability, maintenance strategies and operational efficiency.
He said knowledge sharing with CRT, one of the world's leading monorail operators, would help strengthen the operational ecosystem of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail, which has served the city for more than two decades while keeping pace with technological advancements and international best practices.
Following the signing ceremony, the CRT delegation visited Prasarana's Monorail Depot to observe the company's daily operations and maintenance practices.
Prasarana said the agreement does not involve any financial commitment at this stage and serves as a framework to explore future strategic collaboration between the two organisations.
The two parties will also establish a joint communication mechanism to coordinate the implementation of initiatives and monitor the progress of the partnership.
Prasarana said the collaboration reflects both organisations' shared ambition to enhance the operational excellence of monorail systems while delivering safer, more efficient and sustainable public transport services.
