Stadler Equips Saudi Trains with technotrans Cooling Systems

🗓 30 July 2025

Stadler has partnered with technotrans to deliver cooling systems for Saudi Arabia’s new diesel trains, which will operate along the 400-kilometer Riyadh–Dammam corridor in extreme desert heat. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply. The agreement, signed in winter 2024, includes 10 next-generation intercity diesel trains and a 10-year maintenance plan. Stadler also secured an option for 10 additional units to support future expansion. These parts often suffer in desert environments where heat and sand reduce efficiency. Deliveries will begin in early 2026, aligning with Stadler’s manufacturing timeline. Although technotrans did not disclose financial details, the firm values the deal at several million euros. And while other European systems require significant redesigns to work in such climates, Stadler chose to engineer for resilience from the start. This approach minimizes future retrofits and maximizes long-term fleet value. Stadler expands presence in the Middle East rail market By adapting to regional demands, Stadler strengthens its presence in the Middle East’s expanding rail sector. Saudi Arabia continues investing heavily in rail to reduce reliance on road transport and connect key economic hubs. The collaboration demonstrates expertise on both sides. Stadler brings a track record of reliable rail vehicles, and technotrans delivers proven cooling solutions for high-stress applications. So as infrastructure projects grow across the Gulf, this project signals a new standard for climate-resilient rail systems. Stadler’s strategic move positions it as a leader in future-proof mobility in extreme environments.
