The auction for the public-private partnership (PPP) contract of 19 billion (bn) reais (US$3.5bn) linked to the lines 10 and 14 of metropolitan trains in the Brazilian state of São Paulo has been postponed. Now, the state government expects to publish the contract tender during the first half of 2026, while the auction is expected to take place over the second half of the same year, according to updated information on the Investment Partnerships Secretariat website of the state government. Originally, the government planned to publish the notice by the end of 2025 and hold the auction during the first quarter of 2026. The government did not disclose the reasons for the postponement. The project schedule had already faced other delays in the past. Line 10–Turquoise is in operation and the PPP contract, with a 30-year term, includes plans for the construction of three new stations. Line 14–Onyx, in turn, is expected to extend for about 40km, connecting the cities of Guarulhos and Santo André, with 23 new stations planned.
